A NEW BOOK NOW OUT. Targets set and achieved.

My third book, 'Targets set and achieved' is now complete and ready for sale. As the title suggests it reflects the past seven years of my fishing. Twenty different rivers where double figure barbel were caught, crucians and roach to near record size, perch, chub, tench and bream to make the mouth water. All will be in the pages and well illustrated with lots of colour photographs.

There is a 1000 copy print run of the hardback edition and a further 40 leather bound copies for the connoisseur.

Copies available from myself just email phlpsmith9@aol.com or ring 07980 394864 for details

Still a limited number of leathers available.

Alternatively use the web page http://www.philsmithangler.co.uk/ where you can order by Paypal or credit/debit card.

A snowy walk round.

Just up from the juction of the River Sow and the Warwickshire Avon.

The Warwickshire Avon at Stoneleigh.

I bet chub live there.

The River Leam in Leamington - lot of chub holes here, not many chub though.

Merv looks and wonders  'Dare I take my hands out of my pockets, it's -3 at the moment.'

Regular blogger on the blogspot system will be all too aware of the change made in the new year to uploading photographs. With a great deal of difficulty I have managed a couple of blogs that took far too long to generate under the new system and I despaired of the future of my blog.

It seems upon checking I'm not alone and a help site blog carries many similar comments - not broke why fix it?   I feel there is some ulterior motive at work by Google who own the site.

Comments can be viewed here - I tried some of the suggestions but no joy for me at least. [ I tried this link from the blog without success, it seems you probably need to be logged into the site. There are eight pages of complains about the problem and lots saying they will leave blogger as their blog platform. On the other side, the boffins say they are trying to fix the problem but they have said that from very early in the month so we wait and see. ]

Meanwhile not much fishing being done and the next week looks not much better.   A few trips out have been made but no fish worth the name were caught, getting a bit house bound I took a tour around local river with Merv and hence the photos, pretty at least but not fishing weather.

A little tip that may be of interest to a lot of the readers is a site that offers 4lb and higher strains of Fireline braid on small spools of 50yds at a very nice price of £5.50.

Have a look and choose the smokey colour, it is a great tool in the bag when fine line conditions are required.
